Discussion: what to do with these infinite loops?

The first case demonstrated occurs when the end of file situation is reached unexpectedly; nonetheless, we know to expect the unexpected and handle it gracefully (rather than crashing)...

No doubt there'll be more of these, so in a fashion similar to my others I'll approach them one at a time, in a fork & pull request specifically devoted to approaching them categorically.
