Ipad mini 4 wifi, ios 10.2 YALU Beta 7

Open keiskodeniz opened this issue 8 years ago • 68 comments

Just let you know that:

  • After 30 tries with funny screen colors and restarts, Cydia has been installed.
  • After 5 minutes, device restarted it self.
  • Trying again... Pressed on GO button, nothing happens, link is greyed out but nothing happens yet.

Device: Ipad Mini 4 Wifi IOS: 10.2

Hopefully those help you for upcoming beta or final release. Thanks again for all your hard work!

Here's everything WRONG with this issue:

  1. This is not a code-related issue.
  2. It took 30 tries for Cydia to be installed, and Yalu wouldn't work again after a reboot, so Beta 7 wouldn't make sense until it works before or during the 3rd try.
  3. This is why the "iPad Mini 4" is on the "will get support" list. Somebody get this user some champagne poppers (is the kind of thing you say if you're John Green).

On my iPad Mini 4 Cellular, I had mixed luck with beta 7 so far. I had tried a previous beta which obviously didn't work. So I decided to do a fresh restore while Apple still signs 10.2. I basically skipped everything during initial setup, just went straight to the home screen, ran Impactor and then tried Yalu again. Got a "failed, retry" and then the "Storage full" message and a respring/reboot(?) afterwards. Cydia was there, but crashed immediately, just as if the device were unjailbroken. Several unsuccessful attempts and I finally got it to work by running Yalu after another reboot. Cydia finally launched.

@tangalbert919, please note that yalu.qwertyoruiop.com says "fixes ipad air and mini 4" for beta 7. It appears the readme here on GitHub just didn't get updated yet.

I checked the website 10 minutes ago. For once, I forgot to check the website, and then say something on GitHub. The beta 7 sounds like an experimental fix. It works when you try to install Cydia, but after that, the odds of it failing just skyrockets like there's no tomorrow, but doesn't make it to 100%.

I'm just going to install this beta 7 to my iPhone 6 and watch as it really won't affect me much, except for the Apple Watch thing. I'm getting tired of either the Apple Watch or iPhone going off when I get a call instead of both going off.

I have the same issues:

  1. random reboots
  2. can't rejailbreak quickly - sometimes it takes 30-40 tries

My log: http://pastebin.com/tKwkJLi5 If I can help - let me know.

kremedved avatar Feb 01 '17 21:02 kremedved

After having to reboot my iPad today, I can't re-jb. Yalu just reboots the device into non-jb mode. Tried about a dozen times already. Very hit-n-miss it seems

This is a known issue: support for iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 4 seems to be quite troublesome. I do not have a fix for this yet.

kpwn avatar Feb 02 '17 15:02 kpwn

@kpwn also having this issue on iPad Mini 4 Wifi 10.2 - 10.1.1 seems to have a higher success rate above 60% but 10.2 seems to be 5%. Is there any information like crash logs/kernel dumps that we can submit to help? Edit: Sorry I take that back on 10.1.1 - it seems to be between 10-20% success rate

neildufva avatar Feb 02 '17 15:02 neildufva

I believe it is just bad luck and some patch goes past page boundaries due to kernel layout. I would like panics, but I honestly don't have time to work on yalu for a while.

kpwn avatar Feb 02 '17 17:02 kpwn

Exactly support for ipad mini 4 on 10.2 is quite troubelsome it takes more than 30 tries to install cydia please fix it luca as soon as possible

sehlio avatar Feb 02 '17 17:02 sehlio

I've used Yalu 102 beta7 on my iPad Air2. But when the jailbreak process finishes I don't see the Cydia icon on home screen. if I tap the Yalu icon again it says "already jailbroken " Any idea?

Tonyounes avatar Feb 03 '17 06:02 Tonyounes

@kpwn Are you able to get panic messages from the kernel on the devices via the lightning cable? It would be useful to get such messages from the iPad air2.

After a lot of reading on different forums I today decided to give Yalu102 v6 a try on my iPad mini 4 cell (iOS 10.2). Unfortunately I got no logs but these are my experiences:

  • After several trails where the screen changing not only colors but also flickering the the app told me the unit was jailbroken.
  • wifi and 4G was working without problems as well as everything else but no Cydia.
  • There is no Cydia icon installed but Cydia can still be somewhat reached by visiting Sauriks homepage and from searching a specific tweak (Cydia Eraser etc) and from that site click "Open in Cydia".
  • Tweaks and sources can be installed but icons are not added or used.
  • When in jailbroken mode I tried to install some random .ipa file through Cydia impactor and that was successful.
  • After a while, say 45 min or so the screen slowly "faded away" and crashed.

So, I confirm this jailbreak is extremely unstable.

ghost avatar Feb 06 '17 19:02 ghost

Devleaf-IT: those suggesties doesnt help anything over stability!! We can jailbreak but it isnt stable, thats the problem!

keiskodeniz avatar Feb 06 '17 20:02 keiskodeniz

@keiskodeniz I understand the Jailbreak isn't stable, but Luca knows that as well. My tips simply can help with the jailbreaking procedure and in the case of @Tonyounes help him fix the issue entirely (hopefully).

ghost avatar Feb 06 '17 21:02 ghost

Haven't had any crashes on my iPad mini 4. but it is incredibly difficult to re-jailbreak (sometimes takes 20+ tries). But once i'm jailbroken, it is incredibly stable!

keldegar avatar Feb 07 '17 22:02 keldegar

I hard re set or del profile and app then re inpact Yalu it wilmjb 1st time

KILLCAMPER avatar Feb 08 '17 00:02 KILLCAMPER

SeregaTarasov avatar Feb 09 '17 14:02 SeregaTarasov

Finally I was able to fix my problem "cydia icon not showing on homescreen"

Tonyounes avatar Feb 25 '17 08:02 Tonyounes

Thanks for all the help specially Devleaf and Yuemla. This is the process I've folloewd: 1-Access Cydia from safari ,typing Cydia eraser then open in Cydia 2-add Apple file conduit (tweak) in order to access System files 3-download iFunbox on my Windows PC (latest version compatible with ios 10.2) 4-connect my iPad Air2 to PC and launch iFunbox 5-in main directory, deleted .installed_yaluX 6-turn off device then reboot 7-rejailbreak using Cydia impactor and Yalu 102 beta7 And that's it. Now Cydia icon is back and all works fine. Hope this will help people in the same situation

Tonyounes avatar Feb 25 '17 08:02 Tonyounes

So after some fiddling with yalu on my mini4, I've found a way to get it working every time. The trick seems to be to open an application that needs a good amount of memory. In my case I open a 250MB PDF in Adobe Reader. Then I immediately leave and hit go in yalu. Haven't had that fail yet.

Crazor avatar Mar 04 '17 13:03 Crazor

hello have problems with ipad air2, install yalu, i tap go, cydia installed, but everytime i open cydia it crashes, any ideas?

Gangcho avatar Mar 23 '17 20:03 Gangcho

Is it in a jailbrake star when open Yalu what do it say bud as it sounds like not in a jb state if it's not open loads of apps in background hold run for ten seconds if says fail retry open more apps to get the prosesers working over time and will jb if after you press jb and it shows Apple logo it's just rebooted not jb you shud get a quick storage full then it will go black with spinning circle then your in a jb state

KILLCAMPER avatar Mar 23 '17 21:03 KILLCAMPER

it says that it's already jailbroken but cydia is not openning

Gangcho avatar Mar 23 '17 22:03 Gangcho

Have you got I file or Filza
