[ERROR] Syntax koreader/menu.json in KUAL

• KOReader version: 2025.04 / 2024.11
• Device: Kindle PW3

Issue

KOReader cannot be opened, KUAL gives the error: "Syntax koreader/menu.json I tried clean installs of the two version stated above, it was working then suddently no more, I tried to "distry update" without any success, then I tried to remove the old folders and reinsert the fresh downloaded ones.

Steps to reproduce

• Install any KOReader version listed above
• Open KUAL
• KOReader is not shown, but KUAL menu got thios writing: "KUAL o 1"(where o is actually a black dot)
• under KUAL menu you will see: "o Syntax koreader/menu.json"
• pressing that it will say "[more inof in KUAL log] /KUAL o 1" but I can find no logs

Looks like incorrect unpacking of the extensions folder.

In that case, try better unpacker like 7-Zip or PeaZip
