Colons converted to underscore

I was trying to include a timestamp in a filename such as 11:23:34 but the ":" got converted to "_". Why? Is it something that could be fixed? I would like to help but I am not really familiar with Perl and it would take me ages to make a pull request.. :/ Thank you for this plugin! It really helped!
