Drop Down Menu in Font Sampler will not display Font Names

Open adamg76 opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

When I enter a single font into the font sampler list, it will display the Font Name that I assigned. When I add a second to the list and it goes to a drop down menu, it converts to the original font name and will not use the one that I assigned to it. I looked through the other comments and did not see this issue with anyone else. Am I missing something or is there a bug?

Hm, let me check. So you have a single font in a tester and instead of the dropdown the font name should be rendered there, right?

Good morning. Thank you for the quick response. So when I put only one font selection in it displays the font name as defined in your add on. When I add 2 or more to the list and the drop down selection appears it reverts to some name in the font file rather than my defined font name defined in your add on. Let me know your thoughts. Not sure if I am just doing something wrong. Thanks.

Sounds like a bug; it might be using the wrong file name somewhere (it does keep a reference of the one in the file name, as far as I recall).

Ok. I just want to make sure that I am not missing something. These are specific font files I am trying to use and have specific names that are different from what the font is named. These are ttf files and not woff. Not sure if that is the problem but I can’t get them converted to woff. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you again for the help.

When you say "different from what the font is named" — are you talking about the font internal meta name tables, or the file names? If the name cannot be automatically extracted from the files, you can still pick the font name manually when you add the files. If the names cannot be extracted, this might also point towards other problems with the file. Are those open source fonts, or proprietary fonts you licensed?

These are files that the person I am working with purchased. They are not files I can get changed. When we load a font into Wordpress then load it into the font sampler section, your program allows us to put in a font name and select it in the options section to display the name we named it in the font sampler program. When I load a single font into a font grouping for use it will show the name above the customer typed name. When I load a second option in and the font sampler switches to a drop down menu for selection it reverts to something it grabs out of the tff file. I can’t get it to display the name I inputted. Let me know what else you may need. I could also send you screen shots later when I get home if that would help. Thanks.
