Broken suspend since using this extension

Open artfulrobot opened this issue 5 years ago • 1 comments

Before installing this extension:

  • suspend/resume worked as expected
  • irqbalance was installed

Since installing it:

  • suspend appears to have worked, but opening the lid/turning on again just starts a full from-cold boot!
  • have uninstalled this extension (and cpufreq etc.) but problem perists.
  • have reinstalled this (and cpufreq ... ) and uninstalled irqbalance, problem persists.

Is there any way to reset my system? Do I have to reinstall the OS from scratch? Happy to provide any info I can. Would really appreciate some help - I use suspend all the time but now I'm losing work when it suspends. Thanks in advance.

I disabled C-states and Intel SpeedStep in my bios and I could suspend again. I then re-enabled those and it's still working.

I've read lots about irqbalance + this extension changing online cores causing massive problems. I think the UI should prevent changing the cores online if irqbalance is detected - seems like it's a real foot-gun to have the option to seriously mess up your machine.

Should I open a separate ticket for that suggestion (and close this?)
