Spanish Localization

Hi!

I am interested in localisation for Photon to Spanish, are there any current efforts on this?

all languages are supported by photon. However, for the public API and the data dumps, we do not include spanish at the moment. currently there are no efforts of this kind, but it would be cool as spanish is an important language.

to provide a data dump, a nominatim instance with global data is needed.

Hello,

+1 for spanish, and other important languages. Here are the 10 most spoken languages in the world:

  1. English: 1.121 billion total speakers
  2. Chinese: 1.107 billion total speakers
  3. Hindi: 534.2 million total speakers
  4. Spanish: 512.9 million total speakers
  5. French: 284.9 million total speakers
  6. Arabic: 273.9 million total speakers
  7. Russian: 265 million total speakers
  8. Bengali: 261.8 million total speakers
  9. Portuguese: 236.5 million total speakers
  10. Indonesian: 198.4 million total speakers

And in term of native speakers, Chinese is first and Spanish second, before English. In both cases, German and Italian are not in the top ten.

It would be amazing if you could offer files with different languages sets. Currently the provided files seems to target Europe (without Spain). It would be great to have another set of files targeting the world.

Currently the uncompressed files (supporting en, fr, ge & it) weight 111 GB. Do you know the overhead (size wise) of adding new languages? Like how much space would it take to support all the languages supported by OSM? Or how much one language adds?

I'd really like to have (at least) spannish, but having to set up a Nominatim instance next to my OSM instance on my SSD just for that is a big downsize. Especially compared to how easy it is to setup Photon using your packaged files.

Thanks anyway, I'm just begining to try Photon and it looks extremely interesting!!
