Feature request: remove mandatory DOM dependencies

This module apparently creates a DOM element which makes it unfeasible to use in Native application based on Javascript (e.g. Nativescript).

Is it possible to use Javascript only and define a custom button (which is in fact parsed as XML in Nativescript but the click event can actually run pure Javascript)?
