proper notification when task session is invalid

currently, when the session fails to load:

• either before the first login (which is the indication used to display the login)
• initially after login
• or at some time when (unsuccessfully) refreshing the widget (which, internally, is the same thing as the first)

the user is left with the login widget and the very helpful string Please Login.
