Inconsistent "show all objects" behavior

Any object selected => show all objects has implication No object selected => all objects are shown regardlessly of the flag IMHO this is inconsistent. I think when the flag is off only those objects currently selected should show, and if this "group" is "empty" then nothing should show. This would especially make sense had we an option to toggle multiple object selection.
