On a related note: I'm working in an environment (domain integration, Windows 7) where a dozen of network drives is auto-mounted upon login, so I wasn't able to compare speeds with and without network drives mapped. But I noticed that writing in ics/ids format is much, much faster compared to all other formats available in the Image Writer node.

And another one: None of the writer nodes can write on mapped network drives, they all complain about missing writing permissions (although the logged-in user does have permission to write). I tried with Image Writer, CSV Writer and XLS Writer, so it's a general problem with KNIME. I'll also report it on the forum then.

thanks for letting us know. I didn't know this. But I think @hinerm already knows that?!

I had the chance to test on a computer without mounted drives and again after mounting a network drive, and found no difference. I think the main issue is https://github.com/scifio/scifio/issues/310, as discussed in https://github.com/knime-ip/knip/issues/131.
