Blank Screen after updating to Ubuntu 22.04

So after upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04 my Plex Media Player no longer works. I am just presented with a blank screen. :( I have the latest AppImage, namely Plex_Media_Player_2.58.1-ae73e074_x64.AppImage Shell output ...

Warning: Ignoring XDG_SESSION_TYPE=wayland on Gnome. Use QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland to run on Wayland anyway.

I don't see anything obvious to me in the logs (there are some errors but it seems to recover from them, maybe?). Attaching them here... pmphelper.log plexmediaplayer.log

Thanks for making this awesome appimage! Ken

Not working for me either in Pop_OS 22.04 with similar errors, I assume there's a similar underlying issue.

Can confirm the same issue for Ubuntu 22.04

Just updated to Ubuntu 22.04 and got the same.

It seems that latest Ubuntu they finally dropped X11 and use Wayland by default. PMP requires an old version of Qt which does not support Wayland... Updating Qt is something to try out but it might potentially cause other problems.

Gave it a few tries but unfortunately I was unsuccessful with making an AppImage with Qt 5.15 that works. :disappointed:

Will add a note to FAQ that it does not work on Uubntu 22.04

I can confirm that its not a wayland issue as POP!_OS never switched to wayland and even if I was wrong and it did, I am currently using x11 on POP!_OS albeit with KDE Plasma.

Thanks @DagothUrTheFalse for the info. I'll try to give it yet another try.

I've got a black screen on debian Sid. Just stopped working recently so something broke it.

That's a pity, because the new linux player from plex is so much worse than this version. The controls are so tiny, I can't use them with my projector and it doesn't work with flirc. I hope someone finds a solution.
