Having some experience in building stock market systems(C, C++, go) I do propose from my past experience: Don't reinvent the wheel here. I would go with ZeroMQ (and preferably only under linux) here -> adds minimal overhead and takes a lot of future pain off your shoulders. I implemented some of these systems in the past and would love to contribute but plain sockets is a "pita" on a scalable solution.

Np, I haven't read the existing informations in sufficient details and as I strongly believe in transparent (not anonymous) and free, distributed markets I can't contribute ... sorry.
