SpotMenu not appearing on MacBook menu bar

I'm using a MacBook Pro connected to an external monitor. I just tried SpotMenu today. When I opened SpotMenu, it showed up on the menu bar of my external monitor only and not my laptop screen regardless of which screen is active. After disconnecting the external monitor and restarting SpotMenu, and restarting my Macbook, it still does not show up on my laptop screen. Instead, the date just disappears from the laptop screen's menu bar, while the full date is still on my external monitor when it's connected. So something is happening? To my knowledge I don't have any other menu bar add-ons that could be messing with this. Advice appreciated.

Edit: Didn't mention but my MacBook has the notch on the top if that matters, checking or unchecking "Scale to fit below built-in camera" for SpotMenu doesn't change anything on the laptop menu bar. Although I noticed pulling up the Widgets on the side makes a box flash for a split second on the menu bar where SpotMenu should be appearing on my laptop.

SpotMenu version: I tried both 1.8 and 1.9 MacOS version: 12.5.1
