Interface/Layout mode request: "Over/Under", for tall, narrow window shape

I use a pair of 2560x1440, 31.5" widescreen monitors now (not bragging, I was kinda forced to upgrade and they were inexpensive), and find that tiling windows side-by-side, making them taller than they are wide, makes the best use of the physical space, and works well in most applications. One or two programs out there don't make good use of this sort of window shape, and Pronterface is one of those (when the controls are visible; it's fine when they're hidden).

I would like an interface mode that puts the printer controls next to the console pane, with the 3d view either above or below the pair, and the button to hide the controls and console placed to the left or right of the 3d view.

Here's a mockup (just a simple image made in GIMP):

The (fullsize) image is the exact window size and shape I would use in reality. The 3d view at the bottom would expand in width and height as the window is resized. The controls and console would keep their height fixed, with the console expanding in width as the window is resized.

With this, the user would be able to choose from {"Standard", "Compact", "Over/Under"} interface modes. The above mock-up obviously uses the "Standard" controls, but "Mini" controls would look similar (though much less useful than in the other layouts).

This layout would probably also be useful for the heathens out there who maximize their windows, with their monitors rotated to portrait orientation.
