This looks like it is an issue with Electron.

On a Mac the Cmd + shortcut does work, even on a keyboard that has + and = on the same key. I have to type Shift = to get a +, but Cmd = will zoom.

On Mac Cmd + shortcut does not work properly because it also zooms in on the menu.
