Weird. I imported the file from the ZIP and am able to select passages fine. I'm thinking there's something else going on. Does anything show up under Help > Troubleshooting...

Aha! A key thing here is that selecting by clicking on passages directly doesn't work. Selecting by making a marquee selection does. I'm able to reproduce this now.

Curious, would something like https://github.com/klembot/twinejs/issues/1002 meet your need? e.g. adding a "jump to passage" kind of functionality.

Middle-click to create was functionality in 2.3.... whether it was a good idea in the first place is another story. I don't feel strongly one way or the other, but...
