Google Docs slowed

Open guglovich opened this issue 1 year ago • 7 comments

Description

Tables slow down a lot when using the extension. A month ago and more it was just slow but it was tolerable, after updating Firefox to version 124 it became impossible to use at all. Even a simple click on a cell in the table takes time. I don't know if this is tied to the Firefox version or if the extension has just been updated over time, but the problem got worse this week.

Steps to Reproduce (for bugs)

  1. Scrolling up/down the list
  2. Clicking on cells

Context

Disabling the extension helps right away.

Your Environment

  • CanvasBlocker Version used: 1.9
  • Firefox version incl. 32- or 64-bit: 124.0.1
  • Operating System and version (desktop or mobile): Arch Linux

Try whitelist TextMetrics API for docs.google.com . . . Edited: Try whilelist Screen API too This belongs to me, if there's no whitelist on a opened-file with over 20,000 rows. It's a bit slow. image

Can you please try the latest version on https://canvasblocker.kkapsner.de/versions/

With that I cannot reproduce your problem.

I'm on version 1.10.20240407.1 and the problem persists.

Hm... can you share a table document here where you have problems?

I do not use google docs and with an empty table everything is OK on my machine (but it's quite new...).

Have you tried on a fresh Firefox profile?

I checked out a filled Google Docs spreadsheet that I open on a regular basis, and can't reproduce any of the reported problems either (not even being only "tolerable slow" a month ago, and I'm on a 2012-era notebook, it's always been quite snappy after being fully loaded). It's a "read-only" one, without being logged-in, maybe that's the difference between Docs working or not?

I checked in LibreWolf, it has a clean profile. There's no problem.

I continue testing, tried moving the same tabs, changing privacy settings and so on. Still looking for the problem.
