UI icon buttons are missing text descriptions
When I open up the client for the first time, I'm overwhelmed with lots of icon buttons and exactly zero text describing what they do. For example, I see a black-and-white cookie, a smiley face, and lots of gears and plus signs and multiplication signs that all do different things based on their location, and their symbol meanings aren't obvious on first use. Since I don't know what these buttons do, I'm hesitant to click any of them since I fear they might do something I don't want.
It might be a good idea to add title text to all the buttons so the user will know what they do before they click them the first time. I know that would have helped me when I was first exploring the UI.
Hi @cyrozap - we are investigating / experimenting with tooltips for some of the less obvious icons. We'll keep this thread updated with our progress.
@ItsOnlyBinary // @prawnsalad - I'd like to resurrect the idea of tooltips in Kiwi for this - My PR is a bit outdated now, but I think it was a good idea. Would love us to discuss at some point the best way to implement it.
i was kinda wondering if we should just set titles on the items and let the browsers worry about it
@ItsOnlyBinary - that's not a bad idea, I'm open to playing around and seeing what works best. #586 uses JS to determine where to 'place' the tooltip - and I'm just worried it won't be full proof.
