- Does it produce a log file in the folder?
- What does it say when trying to launch the executable from the command line (cmd or powershell)?
- Do you have an antivirus running?
only defender no log file no output in ps or cmd
In PS, when you launch ./VGamepadPC.exe, does it move to the next line or does it stall/hang?

I tested v0.3.0 in both Windows 10 (VM) and Windows 11, and it launches as expected.
Since you have Defender active, you can expect a popup saying 'Smartscreen prevented an unknown app from running on your PC' on first run. Did you see it? Did you allow (Run anyway) it?
If not, the app is being stopped from starting. (Not an app crash)
It might also be an issue with your Windows system. Corrupted dlls or system files perhaps?
Try,
SFC (System File Checker, will take some time)
sfc /scannow
DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management)
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
If it complains about problems, (takes a long time)
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
I just installed windows about a month ago no smart screen popup in ps it just goes to the next line, same with cmd

Launch ./VGamepadPC.exe from CMD or Powershell.
You'll either get some console output or get a logfile. Let me know what happens.
Since you mentioned yours is a new install of Windows, please check for and install updates (old bootable images are often out-of-date) and device drivers. Also, reboot.
