I am having a very similar issue on Arch Linux when trying to launch the Xplorer AppImage (xplorer_0.3.1_amd64.AppImage). I am using appimaged to "manage" my AppImages and get this error message:

Cannot open Xplorer
Gtk-Message: 12:24:58.844: Failed to load module "xapp-gtk3-module"
Gtk-Message: 12:24:58.845: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
Gtk-Message: 12:24:58.892: Failed to load module "colorreload-gtk-module"
