webui becomes slower over time

There seems to be a point of "available guests" - around 12 - where the webui starts to slow down. switching from templates to guests tab can take upwards of 60 seconds on a local wok install, and for some reason, if the wok install is remote, it can take so long that the session times out before anything comes up.

my local wok is a 40 core system that is generally under 15% load, and the remote system is 20 cores and also under 15% average load as well. If this is a webui issue, is there anything i can do on the wok machines to alleviate this, move certain things to SSD, install a cache server like varnish or squid, or something like that...

edit: for instance adding storage to a guest in the guest tab takes 25 seconds to populate the storage pool dropdown.
