[FR] Ability to switch between yt-dlp "stable" and "nightly" globally in settings
Note: this is my first time submitting ANYTHING on github... please bear with me.
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I believe so... as we know, it's a constant back and forth / cat and mouse game w/ yt. It seems, at least in my experience that pinchflat will stop working for me periodically as yt changes things on their end, until yt-dlp finds a fix.
As the github respository clearly states on their main page: "The nightly channel has releases scheduled to build every day around midnight UTC, for a snapshot of the project's new patches and changes. This is the recommended channel for regular users of yt-dlp"
and:
"Important: Any user experiencing an issue with the stable release should install or update to the nightly release before submitting a bug report:"
https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp
Describe the solution you'd like offer a pull-down style option to switch between the stable and nightly versions of yt-dlp
Describe alternatives you've considered stopping the container and waiting for the next pinchflat update, various options in pinchflat for a given source, including force downloads, etc. , trying with and without cookies, trying with and without hitting google api for indexing as explained by pinchflat
Additional context n/a
Looks like nightly has some fixes that mitigate recent download issue, example: https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/issues/13679
