BonsaiDb had its first commit on March 19, 2021. It has remained in experimental status until this day.

We are close to releasing our first alpha version. We believe that the local database is relatively stable, but it hasn't seen wide usage. Until we have more users, it is hard to truly attest for BonsaiDb's stability. As such, users during the alpha phase should regularly back up their data and test restoring from backups.

Once we feel like BonsaiDb has reached a level of maturity and stability that warrants calling it 1.0, we will officially remove the alpha label and data loss warnings. As we get further along in development, this issue will be updated to reflect any specific features, milestones, or bug fixes that need to be addressed before releasing 1.0.
