KeyMapper
KeyMapper copied to clipboard
Add a list of common key maps and allow the user to add them in one tap.
- categorise them. E.g Minecraft, Media.
- add before working on #501 so the app is less complicated to new users.
- each should have a description which describes the trigger and the outcome of the action. E.g instead of saying "perform KEYCODE_0" it should say "drop block" or whatever it is.
- add a button to suggest keymaps. Add a button to automatically upload the keymaps online so the developer can see most popular ones? Opt-in of course. Make it clear no information except the keymaps in JSON format and the app version are sent.
- automatically list them on the new website
- rename backup/restore buttons to export/import
- show a custom tab in key mapper and clicking on a button to download a keymap will open the link within key mapper. key mapper will then download and open the file.
keymaps
- double press volume up to go to next track. Put in play store description.
- double press volume down to go to previous track
- common ones used for Minecraft. Ask discord server.
I totally embrace this cause, especially to use with keyboards layouts.
Moreover one should be able to download collections of presets.
Wholeheartedly concur. Hopefully, you'll encourage crowd-sourced contributions, otherwise I don't know how you'll ever build up the library.
* double press volume up to go to next track. Put in play store description. * double press volume down to go to previous track
I know you were just brainstorming, but: When I first got Key Mapper I worked hard to find a way to make these exact mappings work, and concluded it's impossible. It's just way too common to press volume up/down with extreme rapidity and repetition throughout the day as you encounter unexpected situations during listening. (Boss/spouse/phone call/construction sites/heavy metal track shuffle...so many situations). Unless severely constrained to something like screen on + app in foreground + media playing, I'd recommend against.
I listen to audio all day long though through my phone in every type of environment and would be happy to share my solution(s) some time...

@jstetten just saw this comment. Sounds like you are a pro key mapper user 😄. I have just added a way to share key maps. See #1035 . Upload it to the discussion in GitHub for now. Please read description of #1037 for the issue I just encountered...
I think a common one might be "tap vol up+down at the same time" to turn on the flashlight. There is a popular application I used to use called torchie, and it does the same thing.
