Add 'Use app shortcut' to trigger screen as trigger type
Make 'allow other apps to trigger this key map more accessible by adding 'Use app shortcut' as a trigger type.
To discuss whether this is too much of a departure from the core key mapper 'i press a button and a thing happens' use process. Avoid becoming another automation app.
You have a fair point. Perhaps we should be thinking of the other apps, or the shortcut itself, as a type of trigger. Me tapping the shortcut on my home screen is akin to a floating button, really.
We could have a button on the trigger page to 'Use an app shortcut'...
The harder part is communicating the 'using another app to effectively tap the shortcut for me' situation. Not sure how we would convey that simply. Maybe the act of making a shortcut to the key map should unlock further details about how to trigger it with intents.

Yes!
I would also say that you're a bit defensive on not wanting to be an automation app :-) when in fact you are one, of a difference stripe. What makes your app stand out is the ease of use and clean interface, so I think of it as an everyman's Tasker. Maybe that's unfair and you don't want to be thought of like that, but there's definitely a need for something like that, and while you surely don't want all their functionality, some little things here and there that they offer would only add extra value.
I find Automate is a much simpler to use version of Tasker and there is no need to try and be another app for that. I'd like to really stick to triggers being buttons or gestures.
