Passing inputs to android auto

I am really new to this and not sure if this can actually work so adding this question as an issue here. Is there a way to pass the basic commands from a bluetooth remote to android auto.

I have a bluetooth remote that works fine for media controls like skip/prev play/pause but long press to open Google assistant launches the assistant app on the mobile is there a way to pass this to android auto unit to launch Google assistant there?

Any help will be much appreciated.
