had the same issue you guys have. finally i just replaced /usr/bin/xflux with the binary from http://justgetflux.com/linux.html and voila, indicator applet works fine now
+1 I am an ubuntu user, so `normal-window` is the only mode that rofi works for me (as in correctly beeing able to focus rofi and type after invocation) So...
would have been nice to add that info to the error log itself. would have save me some time, anger and search
