Not working on Windows 7

Open webcleric opened this issue 2 years ago • 9 comments

After the latest update, the software got automatically updated and it's unable to start. Tested it on dozen of pc's running Windows 7 sadly. Error on the screen after trying to run it is:

Keybase.exe - Entry Point Not Found The procedure entry point DiscardVirtualMemory could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll

--- Edit ---

Would love to try versions below 6.2.3.1 but can't find the older releases?

(I know we are missing latest updates regarding the security, but these pc's where using it solely for just communicating through groups).

I found where old versions are stored. 6.2.1 works for me.

Installed version Keybase_6.2.1-20230721145947%2Be6160f1b9e.amd64.msi on 12 different pc's, and it's running great. Thank you @the-wes for pointing that out!

Since the last update yesterday, not even 6.2.1-x wont work on windows 7.

same here. looks like they changed the API and our versions are no longer compatible. that was quick.

seems they have officially abandoned us. but since we're the only ones complaining I guess it's understandable.

Oh well, it was a blast :D

Thank you again for digging the old version links from amazon, it really helped me!

Shifting gears, I'm currently developing a basic chat application tailored for company use. It's designed from scratch and focuses on simplicity, with no need for encryption as it will be securely used internally. I had enough :D
