kbfs Finder integration not working on macOS Ventura

I'm not sure if this is related, but today's keybase client update to version 6.0.1-20220609162338+0fc9feea3d has broken KBFS for me on macOS Catalina 10.15.7:

We were unable to load KBFS (Fuse kext). This may be due to a limitation in MacOS where there aren't any device slots available. Device slots can be taken up by apps such as VMWare, VirtualBox, anti-virus programs, VPN programs and Intel HAXM.

Please run keybase log send to report the error.

So I did (my log id: e78a576b6c801ad911b6961c), but given how silent the old Keybase team has been since the Zoom acquisition my expectations can't get any lower.

@maxtaco et. al., noting here, too, that the underlying osxfuse dependency has been updated with POC support for ventura, and others have confirmed it's working. Thanks!

macOS 13 Ventura is stable and released as of today. Are there plans to support it with keybase client? Currently Finder integration is not functional. my log id: 99efc936a00f5afcba78b21c Latest pre-release from https://s3.amazonaws.com/prerelease.keybase.io/darwin-test/index.html does not resolve the issue. Installing macFUSE 4.4.1 https://osxfuse.github.io/2022/08/19/macFUSE-4.4.1.html does not resolve this issue.

Uploaded a log as well: 9bfe9a27cd3aa7d9a1dbb11c Really like the ability to work with finder. Agree with foss that "brew install macfuse" will install the program but does not fix the problem. Keybase GUI offers the option to enable Finder in the Files section but it also does nothing useful.

Some work indeed happened in https://github.com/osxfuse/osxfuse/issues/895 and 4.4.0 of macFUSE added support for macOS Ventura. However, unsure what to do to get to a working state. Are steps documented somewhere?

Are there plans to address keybase finder integration on macOS Ventura @maxtaco / @bfleischer ?

The issue is clear, keybase uses a patched version of macfuse from macfuse 4.2.4 (see https://github.com/keybase/client/blob/master/osx/Fuse/build.sh). This needs to get an update to use the newer version of macfuse.

Unfortunately as well, using kbfs -use-system-fuse seems to want to try to find osxfuse 3 and also doesn't work correctly

It seems that with every MacOS update (see older https://github.com/keybase/client/issues/24636) we get a non-functioning Keybase and then it takes ages to get solved. I have to conclude that since Keybase has been acquired the support has dwindled. I will have to look for a different solution as Keybase has become more or less unusable (again!). Too bad...

Unfortunately no. macfuse/osxfuse is no longer an open source project - so I don't have anything I can develop against - the go library used by the client to support osxfuse is also stuck at osxfuse 3 which was the last open source version.

basically keybase/zoom must update their commercial version of macfuse, it's not something anyone else can do.
