DNS identity verification conflicts with SPF

The instructions given during the process say, "if asked for a hostname, enter @". However, this will overwrite the SPF record for the domain.

A better approach is to add a record for "keybase" and enter "keybase.DOMAIN" as the domain to verify. However, this isn't obvious from the instructions. Could the instructions be updated, please?
