Change location of quicklinks

Currently with the new gmail interface (after retiring inbox), if the menu is collapsed as such image

then trying to click the inbox icon, takes you to the quicklinks, which is counter intuitive. image

Therefore it would be nice if you could move the quicklinks to the bottom or another location, which doesn't interfere with the icons, or else you are forced to keep the menu tab open.
