Searx engine

Open Maeda1 opened this issue 7 years ago • 6 comments

Hello,

Using Conex 0.7.11 on Firefox 63.0.3 and Searx search engine, when opening a new tab to search something using Searx, it loads the webpage, coming back to the tab I were, but search is empty like I typed nothing in the search. I have to type again in the webpage to get the results.

No issue with Google, Qwant.

Any idea ?

mm ... can't recreate this. What are the exact steps? do you use searx as your default search engine?

It is used as my default search engine, but it is not mandatory to reproduce the issue.

Steps:

  1. Use Firefox (whatever recent version, mine is 64.0 on Archlinux 64 bits)
  2. Install Conex
  3. Install Searx engine (mine is this one from disroot)
  4. On Conex, add a container, by clicking on Conex icon, "+", write a container name).
  5. Click again on Conex to switch to this new container.
  6. CTRL+T to open a new tab, write something on URL field (or Search field just next to it). Be sure to choose Searx as engine.
  7. Whatever you typed, you will always get a default searx page, waiting for you to type some input text to search.

What is expected: on step 7. It should be the searx page with results already displayed from your input text provided before.

Note: on step 6., it switches to Conex's default container, before getting back to the container you was before. Maybe it is this behavior that causes this issue.

I can't reproduce that here:

Indeed it works on your side. I will disable all other add-on, and will report here what's causing this. Can you keep this issue opened until I found additional relevant information ? Thanks :)

sure :)

OK, I found something relevant. It seems to occur only when having more than one tab in current Conex container.

Can you try one more time (just use the first option in Conex option, no need to enable all options) by opening another tab in addition to the first one (when your search is working, do a CTRL+T and then do a search). As it is only doing this behavior using a Searx engine, I just would like to have your opinion about this, but do not waste too much time on it as it is rather specific issue in specific conditions (i.e. using Conex add-on).
