Whenever it happens, clear app data from application settings (open with Ctrl+P) and restart the application. I am working to fix the issue.

The only solution right now is clear app data from settings and restart the application.

It works as expected here on archlinux snap install for me. Make sure the notification sound is enabled in whatapp settings.
