Auto-test for speed/duplex auto-negotiation
Description
Infix supports enabled Ethernet interfaces to use auto-negotiation of speed/duplex. But we lack a test to verify that the auto-negotiation results in expected speed and duplex.
Proposed test:
- For fixed copper ports (1G or 10G),
- Connect an Infix port to a PC capable of configurable advertisement of speed/duplex.
- Configure the PC for permutations of speed and duplex modes. One way is to only advertise one mode, e.g., 10G-full, 1G-full, 100-full, 10-full, and 1G-half respectively
- Test that Infix negotiates to the advertised mode.
- For SFP ports (optional, or to be discussed):
- (optional) Test with 1G fiber SFP and with 10G fiber SFP. Same on type on Infix and on PC (or perhaps let this be with Infix to Infix). We should get 1G-full and 10G-full respectively.
- (optional) Test with 1G and 10G copper SFPs on Infix. Remote could be PC. Same test as for fixed copper (see above)
