Is it also possible to convert an Alto XML file to PDF?

mmm I am not aware of such an existing tool.

I guess the context of the question is not OCR (superposing ALTO information on its corresponding image PDF), but a pdfalto scenario using a native PDF as input? This is a bit strange because you must have beforehand the PDF that you would be trying to regenerate.
