Does not stay as Default home page

Open ghost opened this issue 2 years ago • 10 comments

When going into and android 12 settings and changing from Shade launcher or Bliss Launcher, it will go back to the previously made home, regardless if Starlight is the default. It will then not respond when pressing the app to go back in.

Does this happen when you set the launcher as default right after you installed it?

Yes, and I apologize, I am on android 11 via e/OS

Very weird, I am struggling to re-produce this issue on my end, I will need some time to investigate this issue.

I'm on Android 11 and I had the same exact issue that OP, @kennethnym, need logs or any more information about my system?

If you can provide it that would be awesome as I could not reproduce the issue on my end. Having the logs allows me to narrow down the source of the bug.

How can I get the logs from the app?

If you have adb installed, you should be able to see the logs by typing in adb logcat in the terminal with your phone plugged in (and usb debugging turned on)

I am happy to provide further instructions if you want!

I can give you a file with my logcat but honestly there are too many arguments and I'm not sure if it could help you, I can also point a logcat specifically to kenneth.app.starlightlauncher but I'm not sure if it will help much, honestly it seems more of a system incompatibility problem, not the app itself.

Still, I recorded this video as a sample of the problem and I want to note several things: Demo

  1. Once I set Starlight as my default launcher, something happens that only seems to happen in Starlight and once I open any application, Starlight stops being the default launcher, this action happens by simply opening any application and closing it, once I do that when I press the "home" button on my device the factory launcher is positioned as the default launcher and Starlight stops being the default launcher in my system settings.

  2. Sometimes Starlight is a closable app like any other, when I close it my default launcher becomes the default launcher in my system settings.

@Terkyz @ghost I know this is a bit late, but this should be addressed in the latest commit. Hoping to push the changes in the next update. I will close this once the issue is confirmed fixed. (I am not able to confirm this myself as I personally do not experience this issue)
