problems encountered upon installation

Hello Seth,

Thank you for writing this package. I have found it useful for my work.

I have been following installation instructions in the section "Option 3: Clone the Repository" of the menu.

After the command "python setup.py build_ext --inplace" , I encountered a "SetupToolsDeprecationWarning" as shown in e3fp1

According to the message, this does not seem to be a problem until this September but I am not sure if it would be fatal after September.

However, when I carried on the next step "python setup.py install", there seem to be some real problems. The messages are shown in the next screen shots. e3fp2 e3fp3 e3fp4 e3fp5 e3fp6

At the very minimum, some of the packages are required for running pytest.

Thank you for taking a look.

Regards, Ling Chan

Thanks for pointing these out! I've been meaning to modernize a bit with a pyproject.toml and will take care of these at the same time.
