{MODE=VIRTUAL} support for macos
Summary
Would be nice if I could autotype into VNC windows. TightVNC, REalVNC both dont work. I know this works on Windows (capital W). Can we get a workaround for macos?
Examples
{MODE=VIRTUAL}
Context
I'm using macos.
Typing into VNC or remote desktop windows should work perfectly without virtual mode. I do it all the time. Make sure you aren't dramatically changing the keyboard layout between host and guest.
Mode Virtual is only useful for virtual machines that strongly capture the physical keyboard and don't interpret unicode sent to the window as specific key presses.
Also, macOS really shouldn't need a virtual mode since it handles key strokes much better than windows does.
I'm getting the aaaaaaaaa thing. Im running Mac OS Monterey. KeepassXC 2.7.1. Ive tried the Macos builtin VNC client, RealVNC, and TigerVNC. I've connected to other Macs and Linux computers. Autotype not working on any connection. any ideas?
I have tried it today with the latest build from the experimental site, 2.8.0 for macOS and unfortunately it is not working.
Is this in the 2.8.0 build?
Yes it is
Ok thank you, so using the sequence {MODE=VIRTUAL}{PASSWORD} on the entry results in nothing is typed, not on a Virtual Machine and also not on the mac itself.
Using {PASSWORD} only results in password is correctly typed on mac, and aaaaaaa issue on the virtual machine.
Any options to get more output what is happening?
Apple M1 Mac 13.2.1 (22D68) Ventura
Yah you are right it is completely broken, not sure what happened there I tested the crap out of that feature.
😅 glad you found it.
Just drop me a message if i can support with testing or anything.
I ended up removing this feature from 2.7.5, we'll get it working for 2.8.0
@droidmonkey i can help with testing this feature if needed for the 2.8 release
I just came acros the all "a" problem using KeePassXC 2.7.6 on macOS 14.1 to auto-type in a VMware vSphere Console (a web based console). Since the console does not seem to have any keyboard options I am hoping the virtual mode would help.
+1 In Microsoft Remove Desktop for Mac it also just types aaaaaaaaaa when using auto type.
+1 this would really help me in my daily tasks
