You cannot overlay on top of a full screen (desktop) app on macOS

I was previously using a password manager called myki where it was possible to overlay their autotype over full screen apps, similar implementation would be possible.

Below is a screenshot of it working with myki as an example. image

Maybe this could be implemented as a feature?

Thanks @droidmonkey, it would be super useful! Especially as most people manage multiple windows in full screen over multiple screen on mac.

@droidmonkey did you happen to have any success with this?

I have the same issue, here is a little more details:

  • With only macbook, it switch to keepassxc app then shows auto-type popup
  • With chrome fullscreen on 1 monitor, keepassxc open in macbook, nothing shows up, but I can see it focus on keePassxc app. I can work around by toggle mission control (control + Up -> control + Down) then the auto-type popup shows up on chrome, but I still have to click on popup search because cursor focuses on keepassxc search on app.
  • With chrome fullscreen on 1 monitor, macbook open other fullscreen app, popup shows up, keepassxc shows up and cursor focuses on search on app.

hope it help.

Hello

I often use most of my apps in full screen mode and autotype isn't able to overlay on top of it and opens in its own workspace somewhere. (it switches focus to the autotype window opened in a different workspace IF there's isn't already an autotype window already open, otherwise it won't even switch focus).

The most problematic part is, when I get to the autotype window (either via automatic window switch or manual) and select an entry, that entry is typed over the workspace where autotype is and not over my original full screen app.
