Add username generation

Open ph00lt0 opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

Summary

Just like we like to randomly generate passwords it should be possible to generate random usernames as well.

Secondly it should be possible to have a default suffix such as @example.com to allow for catch-all email addresses to be set as username. And allow for the plus addressed email such as example+<<RANDOM>>@example.com.

In addition it would be great if their would be an integration with API's of SimpleLogin, Firefox Relay, and AnonDaddy. .

Examples

Bitwarden has quite a nice integration for this, would recommend to have a look at that.

Context

Just as I want random passwords I also want random usernames and often accounts require an email address. For added security as well as privacy I think an aliasing service can be beneficial.

I was looking for issues about username generation and seems like the the maintainers already dismissed the idea :(

They suggest using the passphrase generator with either a character or nothing as a space seperator. Gives results like:

  • regallysteadier
  • active839poppy
  • corporal_molecule

It works but still it would be nice if it you the option to generate a username when adding a new entry like with your password.
