Have you searched for an existing feature request?

  • [x] Yes, I tried searching

Brief Summary

Hello,

I'm searching for the feature to search in KeePassXC GUI (windows client) in all open and unlocked databases like KeePass Plugin "Global Search" https://keepass.info/plugins.html#globalsearch

I can't find any option and no hint in documentation.

We had decided to not implement that. However if you switch tabs while searching, the search should be conducted in the next selected database. At least that is the intention.

That's pretty unhandy, did you tried to search over more than 8 databases? What's about the feature to synchronize with groups/folders and subfolders. If this feature is general available I would try to make a master-database and link all my databases with KeeShare. So I hope it's possible to search over all my databases. Any other ideas?

Maybe this is one workaround. I created new database and add all my databases with KeeShare as "Import" to special folders under Root-Note. Now I can search over all my databases.

The downside is, that this workaround is pretty dangerous. If you do not think about, that you are in a "read-only" database by design, you can loss your credentials.

Is it possible to set a database as read-only, to prevent the users to unwanted changes? Read-Only over filesystem is not a solution, then KeeShare won't work.

Oh well...Import from database with Keyfile is not possible. So I cant Import from original database and I will loss the structur from groups/folders ans subfolders 😔

I guess my response is, why are you trying to use so many databases at once without clear delineation? If you use features like browser integration and auto-type then we will search across all unlocked databases. Otherwise the user interface is not currently aligned with that behavior from the main window view.

It's easy to explain. The reasons are: PERMISSIONS We have multiple databases for our deparments/teams. Every team have own database. IT-employees and executive board members can access all databases.
