NYT Crossword stopped downloading Sun June 3rd
It appears that NYT has once again changed the way you get the puzzle and Shortyz can no longer download the puzzle as of June 3, 2018. Please investigate.
Running Android version 4.4.0
Can you log in an download them from the web site? I have not seen a problem.
Let me go ahead and retry my credentials. I can reach them via the NYT app with the same credentials. Is there some place I can see logging output to send you from my device?

I have encountered a similar issue, as has my wife. We can access the NYT crossword puzzle via the web, but it isn't downloading into Shortyz as of June 4th.
(In case it's relevant, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S7, running Android version 7.0.)
I was thinking that one issue is that I have a digital subscription to NYT in addition to my crossword subscription. Perhaps they are serving credentials differently in that case. ErWenn is that the case for you too?
I am encountering the same problem with my wife's tablet (Galaxy Tab 3 also running Android 4.4.0). No problems with any other of our devices. On the Tab 3, I have cleared the account info, and rerun the opening pages. Pressing theTimes Login button, we get to the login page but nothing shows except "The New York Times" at the top and a copyright notice at the bottom. If I touch "The New York Times", I wind up at the Times website. Scrolling down and selecting digital subscriptions, several "Please wait ..." boxes open and the digital subscription page opens behind the boxes and that's where everything stops.
I am able to log into the Times digital subscription page with her tablet without any problems.
I think they must be running an A/B tests an we are in the lucky group seeing the new code. I guess whatever they are trying will be mainstream soon enough. I have reverted to the NYT app until this is reproducible
Same issue here, just getting around to checking up on it today. Samsung Galaxy S7 on Android 7.0 and also Samsung Galaxy Tab A running Android 7.
Any updates on this? I am still unable to download NYTimes Crossword on my Android devices. (S7 and TabA.) My NYT Crossword subscription is active. Also, FWIW, my Crossword subscription is on a completely different login and account than my digital subscription.
For me, the last successful NYT download was Mon, 6/4. My tablet is pretty old and runs Android 4.2.1. I can download puzzles from the NYT website just fine, so there is no issue with my subscription.
I also have the problem that downloads of the NYT puzzle stopped over a week ago. I am running Android version 8.0.0 on a Galaxy S7. I can login to nytimes.com and access the puzzle there, so my ID and password are okay. I just can't download the NYT puzzle within shortyz.
I stopped getting NYT puzzles on 6/15/2018 from my (really old) Moto X (Android 5.1). It had been working fine until then. I am able to log in to the NYT site. Let me know if I can help in any way.
It looks like the NYT login page has moved and Shorty's can't find it.
I tried logging in through the web site, and my creds are still good.
I'm getting the same error page as shown in the screenshot above. If you flip the device to landscape orientation, you can see the whole url:

It's still valid and brings up the NYT signon page if you type it into a browser.
I've noticed that the NYT app on my tablet has also stopped downloading new content. When I try to login to the NYT app, I get a message saying, "You are currently offline. Please connect and try again". I'd be surprised if these two symptoms (on different apps, granted) are not related.
I have Shortyz installed on a newer tablet as well and it downloads NYT puzzles just fine. Same credentials.
I had the same problem of NY Times crosswords not loading but was able to fix it. I went into Settings (in Shortyz), then Daily Crosswords, then New York Times. I chose Clear Account Info. Then I backed out to Daily Crosswords, chose New York Times again and reentered my account information. It is now downloading the crosswords again!
Wow, that worked for me too. I actually had to restart my phone after the Clear Account Info, and then had to do a manual Download, which then prompted me to re-enter my NYT account information.
Did not work for me. Shortyz app keeps aborting every time I try to re-login to add my NY Times subscription info. Cannot get past this.
