Help function does not show current cursor location

Open devnoot opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

Describe the bug

When pressing ? to bring up the help menu, the current location of the cursor in the help document doesn't get shown, making it confusing if you leave then re-enter the help menu.

To Reproduce

  1. Open taskwarrior-tui
  2. Press ? to bring up help menu
  3. Scroll down past the fold line
  4. Press q to leave help menu
  5. Do something else in taskwarrior-tui
  6. Press q to open help menu (the menu should be in the same spot as before now)

Environment (please complete the following information):

  • Operating System: Linux
  • taskwarrior-tui version: 0.23.6
  • task version: 2.6.2

Additional context and information

Thanks for your contributions to taskwarrior-tui, it's an amazing tool :)

That's a good idea. My original impression was the help page wouldn't exceed a "screen length"'s worth of content. Clearly a lot more features have been added.

Would you say this is a bug or can I change this to an improvement tag? Also, I'm traveling and won't really be able to work on this for about a month or so.

It might be an improvement more than a bug :)

I think having a line marker (ie linenum/linetotal) somewhere on the help page would be more than enough.

maybe it would be a good idea to add a gauge? like this for example:
