https://github.com/pypa/setuptools_scm will generate a version like 0.1.dev1+ge42c9a0.d20221212, however has will recognize it as 0.1. . Is it a bug?

While it's not ideal, I think we cannot meaningfully parse all kind of versions out there. I would keep this issue open for more inputs from community. Thanks for reporting the issue.
