Idea: Bingo mode based on Hex
Hi!
I think it would be interesting to try a variation of bingo based on the game Hex. You can see the rules of Hex at the linked Wikipedia page, but here's a recap:
- There are two players; let's say blue and red.
- The board is a diamond shape, consisting of $n$ rows of $n$ hexagons. (For a bingo implementation, we probably want $n=5$.)
- The four sides of the diamond are colored; alternating between blue and red.
- You win by completing a path connecting the two sides of your color.
- The game is a lockout, so you can try to block the opponent's path, and force them to go around you.
- Conveniently, it turns out that every completed board is a win for exactly one player.
As far as I can tell, adding this mode would require only two changes:
- Add an option to reformat the square grid into a hexagon grid. This would be a purely visual change — there are the same number of tiles, but they're arranged a bit differently.
- Add an entry to the "Different Ways to Play Bingo" section of the about page.
Do you think this would a fun thing to add?
