would it be easy or possible to port this to webgl?

recently found a software called lively that allows you to set webpages and pretty much everything else as a desktop bg or screensaver.

was wondering if since many of these seem to be written in opengl if they could be ported to a webgl format to be used in lively.

ive opened a thread in the issues panel of that page asking similar question, before finding the windows port here. linked below

even if it has to be done one hack at a time that would interest me, as im willing to learn how to do it, if someone can tell me its possible, and maybe start me in the right direction as to how. i mostly just want substrate and have been wanting to learn how to repurpose the source for xscreensaver for a long time.
