I think people more often like to have favorites :)
I mean not in options, its by the tree view itself, you right click on a drive or folder and set it as favorite so you can access it quickly
For example we can add a star button when hovering items to mark them as favorites
We can save this in the database as a per user configuration. Not conflicting with current state. This makes user's life lot easier, like you use in nautilus
This is from Google Drive, let us allow Joomla Users to play with files using a context menu, it will also reduce many problems :) 
Yes, for them we need alternatives
For PC version this could be a really good improvement IMO
