Describe the bug Whenever I startup I workspace, I have to start it twice, since there seems to be a problem with the webcam.
On the first start up it fails with "Unexpected Error", but clicking the same workspace again makes it work normally. Here are the screenshots of what the error-logs provide: image image image

I think the problem lies within the preexisting webcam on the host-system. I'm using Kasm on my old laptop which has a webcam, but that seems to be not configured on Ubuntu Server 22.04 right after the installation. This here is not so much a bug, but more an inconvenience, since when I click on the same workspace again it starts up normally. The docs (see https://kasmweb.com/docs/latest/guide/webcam_passthrough.html) state that there might be a problem with this (see troubleshooting), but it would be good if that issue would be resolved in the future.
This is not so much a report as in "OMG! THIS HAS TO BE FIXED ASAP!", but more like "Hey - would be nice if that could be resolved somewhen.". I don't know if the webcam itself works in the VNC, since I can't test that right now. Will update when I have more info.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Setup Ubuntu Server 22.04 on a Laptop with an internal webcam
  2. Setup Kasm
  3. Install any workspace (so far I've tested only with Ubuntu-based Workspaces!)
  4. Hopefully see the same error on first startup - second startup should work fine.

Expected behavior No errors on startup.

Small update on this one:

  • The error persists on other Workspaces than Ubuntu (tested with Fedora).
  • The error makes my Client-Webcam unuseable in a Workspace. Clicking on the webcam in the sidebar just seems to do nothing. Webcam stays red (text color) and disabled.

Thanks for reporting. Can you confirm you can work around this issue by disabling the allow_kasm_webcam group setting?

@j-travis - Yep. I can confirm that. Setting allow_kasm_webcam to false is a workarround. Doesn't help in my specific case tho, since I only have one user, that is admin... :)
