Manually expanding row

So far I used a solution recommended by @kartik-v to expand a row manually: https://github.com/kartik-v/yii2-grid/issues/416 It stopped working recently, I'm not sure why. I can't expand a row anymore from code.

Any idea why it stopped working or how could I expand a row manually? Any plans on adding a built in function to expand a row manually?
